Kevin Kummer, CPA

PRESIDENT

Kevin Kummer is a seasoned financial executive who has led teams and organizations as VP of Finance, Controller and Accounting Manager across a variety of industries, including association management, e-commerce, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, not-for-profit and publishing.

As an accounting leader, he has worked to improve process and information flow, internal controls and development of strong and cohesive accounting teams. Kevin has worked closely with senior management and Boards of Directors to ensure high quality financial information and analysis is provided to facilitate decision making and help drive profitable growth. He has successfully helped organizations through periods of transition including navigating bankruptcy, mergers and acquisitions, the implementation of new accounting systems and external audits. Kevin has led the modernization of several accounting infrastructures and has implemented systems that helped to facilitate continued growth.

Kevin has helped the companies and not-for-profits he has worked for prepare and file their annual tax returns. He has partnered with tax experts to strategize and realize tax savings for the organizations he has served.

Kevin is a Licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He received his undergraduate degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Kevin lives in western suburbs with his wife, Kathy and two boys. Kevin is an avid sports fan and enjoys playing golf whenever possible.

Diane Dillon, CPA

Senior Accountant

Diane has been a public accountant for 18 years. She has worked with a wide variety of clients but especially enjoys working with small business owners. She has an undergraduate degree in History from Western Michigan University and completed her accounting degree at Northwestern University. In her spare time Diane loves to garden and also breeds and shows purebred dogs.

Bob comes to The ACT Group, Ltd. after almost 30 years of accounting experience in various industries. His passions include gourmet cooking, good red wine, hiking, biking, and camping on his six acres in rural Southwest Wisconsin. He shares his home in Des Plaines with his life partner, David, and his cat, Katie.

Darshan (Dersh) Patel

Staff Accountant

Dersh is a graduate from DeVry and is currently studying for the Audit portion of his CPA exam. He is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. In addition to QuickBooks training, Dersh works on complex accounting projects, tax preparation and assists with NFP audits. He also loves to work with Excel, and has tutoring experience in this area. Dersh became a father in 2015!

Larry was privileged to work with Intuit as one of the first five CPAs to help develop QuickBooks for small businesses and enjoys a continued relationship with their development team.

Larry has been a board member of several local nonprofit organizations. He is passionate about the power that accounting can provide small businesses and non-profit organizations and brings his enthusiasm for excellent customer service to the local business community. Outside of tax season, he likes to travel, watch Alfred Hitchcock and Pedro Almodovar movies and attend the theatre.

Larry is still offering consulting services to The ACT Group, Ltd.
